World Indigenous People Day

I suddenly came to know about the world Indigenous People day from BNHS-CEC. Then I looked up the website http://www.un.org and leart a little more.
Since this a travel blog and there would be many travelers who chance to meet the indigenous people during their travels I thought it would be interesting to share a few aspects of what I came to know in a day.

Wikipedia defines Indigenous People as 'Indigenous peoples are ethnic groups that are defined as "indigenous" according to one of the various definitions of the term, though there is no universally accepted definition.'
But as Wiki says there is no proper term or definition. We can say in layman terms that these people stayed back in time separated from the world of tremendous change and progress. We can refer to them as tribes and they are present today in isolated pockets in different parts of the world. Some of them have advanced a bit to adopt the new ways of life whereas some of them are still primitives and base their livelihood on hunting.

With the world closing in every day with new technology the indigenous tribes are all but extinct. They are now protected, but very limited in number.

The Wiki link gives a good  List of Indigenous People - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_indigenous_peoples

I have also collected a bit of information about some of the tribes and presenting it here. There is no sorting, priority basis in this selection, just a random sample.
